Extend-A-Life Installation instructions

Ideal for older Suburban and Duo-Therm furnaces where the Ignitor board is close to the combustion chamber.
The Kit:
  1. Allows the Ignitor board to be located outside the furnace away from the heat.
  2. Includes an adapter board and wires. Also includes the grommet materials necessary to protect the wires from the sharp metal edges of the furnace housing.
  3. Works with all standard Ignitor boards.
  4. Is fuse protected on the adapter board
  5. Has easy installation instructions.

Before installing the EAL Kit; verify that the furnace will operate properly when the chosen Ignitor board- hopefully a Dinosaur product- has been installed in it's normal position.
After verifying proper operation (see fig. 1 below), remove the Ignitor board. Attach the EAL wire kit to the adapter board and mount the adapter board in place of the original Ignitor board (see fig. 2 below). Connect the furnace wiring to the adapter board. Connect the Ignitor board to the extended wiring and put the furnace through a complete operating cycle to make sure all the wiring is correct: you don't want to put this thing back in the case and find out you wired the adapter board wrong and have to take it out of the case again!
So, if all is well, remove the Ignitor board from the adapter cable and select the desired case opening for feeding the cables through. Of course you may have to cut a hole for the cables. Protect the cables from any sharp metal edges by installing the appropriate grommet material supplied with the EAL kit.
Feed the cables through the selected opening and place the furnace back in it's case. Mount the Ignitor board in it's chosen location (see fig. 3 below). Please use a cover on the Ignitor board to protect it from dirt, grime and possible physical damage. If you used a Dinosaur Ignitor board with a transparent cover , you can now observe the LED for the operating sequence of the furnace. This should complete the EAL kit installation.
